For the latest instructions on accessing GIS resources remotely, <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.fiu.edu\/gis\/services\/remote-access-via-elabs\/\">CLICK HERE<\/a> !!!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>During the Fall 2022 semester, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">users with GIS accounts<\/span> can access the GIS workstations in the GIS Center via eLabs. eLabs is a multi-platform system used to access applications in a virtual environment or to access remote workstations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT:<\/strong>\u00a0There are two important requirements for\u00a0Cisco AnyConnect (VPN software) to work on your computer: 1.\u00a0You must have antivirus software installed and updated. Enrolled FIU students can download free anti-virus software at\u00a0<a id=\"LPlnk824026\" href=\"https:\/\/panthertech.fiu.edu\/livesafe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">https:\/\/panthertech.fiu.edu\/livesafe\/<\/a>\u00a02. You must turn on your firewall.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Accessing GIS workstations via VPN and eLabs:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Step 1: Enroll in 2-factor authentication, if you have not already done so\n<ul>\n<li>Link to Instructions: <a href=\"https:\/\/fiu.service-now.com\/sp?id=kb_article&amp;sys_id=a69690bedb0c3200ff70785e0f9619b7\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/fiu.service-now.com\/sp?id=kb_article&amp;sys_id=a69690bedb0c3200ff70785e0f9619b7<\/a><\/li>\n<li>As part of enrolling you will see an option to download the DUO app to your phone. It is highly recommended that you do so, as it is the easiest method to use 2fa<\/li>\n<li>Additional DUO information can be found here: <a href=\"https:\/\/fiu.service-now.com\/sp?id=kb_article&amp;sys_id=dd81ca14db54fa4019f173921f961945\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/fiu.service-now.com\/sp?id=kb_article&amp;sys_id=dd81ca14db54fa4019f173921f961945<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Step 2: Download &amp; Install the CISCO Anyconnect VPN client\n<ul>\n<li>Download here: <a href=\"https:\/\/network.fiu.edu\/vpn\/#anyconnect\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/network.fiu.edu\/vpn\/#anyconnect<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Step 3: Login to VPN\n<ul>\n<li>Remember, you must turn on your firewall and you must have updated anti-virus software on your computer<\/li>\n<li>Instructions to Log in with the Cisco AnyConnect client: <a href=\"https:\/\/fiu.service-now.com\/sp?id=kb_article&amp;sys_id=6c3c789ddb899780b16af969af96193d\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/fiu.service-now.com\/sp?id=kb_article&amp;sys_id=6c3c789ddb899780b16af969af96193d<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Cisco AnyConnect will scan your computer to make sure it meets the FIU security requirements. Information on these requirements here: <a href=\"https:\/\/fiu.service-now.com\/sp?id=kb_article&amp;sys_id=bc95e660dbf5b780b16af969af961968\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/fiu.service-now.com\/sp?id=kb_article&amp;sys_id=bc95e660dbf5b780b16af969af961968<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Summary of VPN login instructions:\n<ul>\n<li>Open VPN Anyconnect Client. From the drop down menu, select vpn.fiu.edu<\/li>\n<li>If vpn.fiu.edu is not there, type it in<\/li>\n<li>Click on \u201cconnect\u201d<\/li>\n<li>On next screen \u2013 type in your username and password<\/li>\n<li>There will be a field that says second password. But faculty and staff must enter their username in the following format: AD\\username<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-526\" src=\"http:\/\/maps.fiu.edu\/gis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Image-4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"228\" srcset=\"https:\/\/giscloud.fiu.edu\/gis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Image-4.png 480w, https:\/\/giscloud.fiu.edu\/gis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Image-4-300x143.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Step 7: Connecting to the GIS Lab\n<ul>\n<li>Once connected to both VPN and eLabs, you should see three tabs at the top of the screen. The tabs are &#8220;Home&#8221;, &#8220;Apps&#8221;, &#8220;Desktops&#8221;. Once you click on &#8220;Desktops,&#8221; you will have access to 2 groups of workstations: &#8220;GIS Courses&#8221; and &#8220;GIS Homework and Research.&#8221; When in class, please use the &#8220;GIS Courses&#8221; group.
